Starting at 9am the Weasels were driven, by our TSS leader Ana, over to Kelly's Warm Springs to meet Ranger Millie who is working with National Park Services to determine the effects of invasive fish species on a warm spring ecosystem. The Weasels worked with the Wolverines to capture, sort, catalog, a large number of warm spring fish. It was clear from their investigation that tourists had 'set free' their aquarium fish in this fragile ecosystem. Weasels and Wolverines separated invasive species from indigenous ones, carefully recording fish length, type, water PH, temperature, and mineral content. Ranger Millie thanked our teams for helping her collect important data to turn into a National Park Services task force to determine what is to be done at Warm Springs pond to deter people from releasing foreign tropical fish. Here are some photos of our day.
